Balcony by Kate Ling

£6.00 / On sale

Women hold the centre of this brilliant debut by south east London poet Kate Ling.

Like the vines and succulents that hang from her titular viewpoint, Ling’s words reach out for nourishment, finding sustenance in connections with strangers: the shop assistant she buys yarn from or the lady she watches bringing home fish from the market. Reaching out, she tells us, is a way of holding on.

Kate Ling's work has been put together in the gaps that open up in a working parent’s life. She has been published in Magma, Brittle Star and Long Poem Magazine. Her poem Deptford Creek won the inaugural Flamingofeather prize for best long poem and she was a winner of the Frogmore Papers prize in 2016.
